A CREED TO UNITE CHRISTIANITY?

A CREED TO UNITE CHRISTIANITY?

As you know, there are so many denominations in the United States today, and even more around the world. These denominations exist in spite of scriptures forbidding any kind of division and new denominations are being formed all the time. In passages like 1 Corinthians 1:10 and 11:18 we are dissuaded from division. In one of Jesus' prayers to his father he made this statement, My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you (John 17:20-21). His prayer was that Christians would be united through his Apostles message [creed] as he and his father are united.

With denominationalism in mind, consider these questions, How could the "Christian" world unite? What would bring the "Christian" world together? Is it possible to find a creed that might unite the "Christian" world? The answer to all three questions is the Bible. The Bible is the only creed common to all who claim to be followers of Jesus. The Apostle Paul stated that there was only one faith. He wrote, There is one body and one Spirit- just as you were called to one hope when you were called-one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all (Ephesians 4:3-6). If you substituted "creed" for "faith" the solution to our disunity is illuminated. We should rally around this one faith [one creed] found in God's word.

So, if you believe there is only one faith (one creed) you are already so blessed. You are so blessed because most of the "Christian" world cannot see this simple truth. Remember Jesus' words, Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. (Matthew 7:7). You asked, and you have received. You looked, and you have found. You knocked, and the door has been opened to you. You live by the "one creed" once for all entrusted to the saints (Jude 3). You are truly blessed.
