Where are your priorities?

Proverbs 15:17  "Better a meal of vegetables where there is love than a fattened calf with hatred."

This may seem like a strange verse after reading the above title, but think about it for a moment. Have you ever associated with people, or pursued something in your life because it had become YOUR priority? You know what I'm talking about, that one thing in your life you won't give up regardless of the cost.

It's like eating steak with someone you hate. Now I know we aren't supposed to "hate", but let's all be honest, there are people in our lives that we would probably do better without. The problem is we continue to pursue a relationship with them because WE have something to gain. Maybe they make us look good because of their flaws. Whatever the reason with our association with them comes grief.

What this verse is really saying is better to sit down to a humble meal and share in God's priorities than to eat like a king and pursue yours.

So take a moment to eat your vegetables....who knows? Maybe when you do you'll find a bit of true love.
