Sowing to Please the Spirit

Galatians 6:7 tells us “You reap what you sow”. Think about this for a moment. We reap what we sow, what this is really saying is “You are free to choose, but you are not free from the consequence of your choice”.

Whatever decisions we make, how we treat others, how we react to the way others treat us; how we choose to live our lives, all have consequences. Some will be good and some will be bad. Never the less there will be an end result from the choices we make. I’m sure that anyone reading this right now wants their end results to be good and pleasant, not bad. The great thing about choices is we don’t have to make them alone. God has given us His wisdom and knowledge to help us choose the right path in our lives that will help us along to a pleasant end. We need to look no further than His word, the Bible. In Galatians 6:8 we are shown how to make the right choices. “The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life”. There will come a day when the harvest will be ready. The choices we make in this life will either have a positive or negative effect on our eternity and where we spend it. There will be a harvest for those who have sown a life of sin (Rev. 14:15), and there will be a time for the righteous to be lifted up to the Father our Creator (Rev. 22:11-12).

So think about the choices you make carefully. Are the decisions you make in line with the way our Savior has taught us? Are you choosing a wide easy path and just going through the motions with the rest of the world, or are you following Jesus and keeping to the narrow path that leads to eternal life? (Matthew 7:13-14)

Whatever path you take just remember there will be a consequence-good or bad- the choice is yours, but make no mistake you will “Reap what YOU sow”!!
